Ubersuggest review: $29-$99/month pricing, the non-refundable lifetime plan, plan limits, weekly-only rank tracking, Moz backlink data and who should skip it.
The pitch has not changed in years: Semrush-style keyword, backlink and audit data for a fraction of the price. Ubersuggest's pricing page still lists it from US$29 to US$99 a month (checked on October 16, 2026), while Semrush's cheapest plan is $139. What has changed is the product underneath that price, and the fine print around it.
Over the last thirteen months Neil Patel's team has bolted an AI layer onto what used to be a plain keyword tool. AI Search Visibility arrived in September 2025 and tracks whether your brand shows up when people ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews a question. AI Keyword Overview and AI Prompt Ideas followed in November 2025. In July 2026 came an MCP connector, which the vendor says exposes "all 42 SEO tools through natural conversation", plus a ChatGPT app. August 2026 brought a WordPress plugin that runs a site audit and applies AI-generated fixes from inside wp-admin, and September 2026 added Pixel Rank Tracking, which measures how far down the screen a ranking actually sits. That last one is Enterprise-only.
The same year took things away. In September 2025 daily rank updates were switched off for every plan, paid or not. The help centre puts it bluntly: "Daily updates are no longer available." The older toolkit is still there, and it is what most people pay for: Keyword Ideas, Content Ideas, Site Audit, Backlinks, Rank Tracking, Bulk Analysis and an AI Writer that works in 63 languages.
Ubersuggest does not print its per-plan prices in the page text; it renders them in the browser and shows a range. Third-party trackers (SEO ScaleUp, verified May 2026) list Individual at $29 a month, Business at $49 and Enterprise at $99, with one-time lifetime versions at roughly ten times the monthly price: $290, $490 and $990. The two ends match the vendor's own $29-$99 range. The middle figure and the lifetime prices are third-party reports, so confirm them at checkout.
Checkout may not show those numbers anyway. Pricing is geo-localised by IP address "to reflect the economic conditions of different regions", and the currency locks once you buy. A reader in India or Brazil will see a different figure from a reader in Ohio, and cannot switch later. Annual billing exists, but we found no published annual price. Students and non-profits get 20% off monthly plans only; lifetime and annual plans are excluded.
The lifetime plan is the real draw, and it comes with a permanent banner: "Save 90% off with lifetime access. Offer ends soon!", complete with a countdown timer, on October 16, 2026. At $290 against $29 a month, Individual lifetime pays for itself in ten months. Three catches sit underneath it.
Add-ons cost "+$5/month each" on the pricing page, and AI Writer word packs run $9, $24 or $99 a month for 25,000, 100,000 or 500,000 extra words on top of the 10,000 every paid plan includes.
| Tool | Cheapest plan, monthly | Billed annually |
|---|---|---|
| Ubersuggest Individual | $29 | Not published |
| Ahrefs Starter | $29 | - |
| Mangools (third-party figure) | $29 | $19.90/month |
| SE Ranking Core | $129 | $103.20/month |
| Semrush | $139 | $117.33/month |
Competitor prices were checked on each vendor's pricing page on October 16, 2026, except Mangools. The table explains the appeal, and also its limit: Ubersuggest is not the only $29 option anymore.
These come from the pricing page on October 16, 2026, and the user counts from a help article updated in December 2025.
| Individual | Business | Enterprise | |

Individual means one site and one login. A freelancer with three clients is already on Business, and an agency with eight is on Enterprise because Business stops at seven projects.
The backlink cap is the limit the marketing omits. Individual shows 2,000 links per domain, so on a site with 40,000 backlinks you see one in twenty. New and lost links only go back 30 days on every plan. And there is no API: the pricing FAQ says "We don't have any API access plans available at the moment."
The free account has no time limit, and it is tight enough to make that generous only on paper. You get 3 searches or reports a day, one project with 25 keywords updated weekly on desktop only, 2 competitors, a 150-page weekly audit, 100 backlinks per site, and an AI Writer capped at 2,000 words. Three keyword searches is about one research session a week.
The free Chrome extension is the better taste. It puts search volume and competition next to Google results, has more than 600,000 users and a 4.8 rating from 1,100 reviews on the Chrome Web Store, and allows 40 searches a day without paying.
The 7-day trial needs a card, runs on monthly plans only and can be used once per account. Put that next to the refund policy and the rule is simple: cancel before day seven if you are not convinced, because the first charge cannot be reversed. If you cancel a paid plan later, your rankings and history are deleted and only the oldest project, with 25 keywords, stays.
Ubersuggest says its keyword data comes "from Google's API, with updates occurring monthly", combined with estimates from "multiple data providers". The backlink side is more clear-cut: "Our backlinks data is sourced exclusively from the MOZ API." You are buying Moz's link index through a cheaper screen. If you already pay for Moz Pro, the backlink tab tells you nothing new; if you build links for a living, Ahrefs crawls its own index and Ubersuggest does not.
Rank data is weekly on every tier, which is useless for spotting a Google update the morning it lands.
Users who have checked the keyword numbers are mostly kind to them. One Trustpilot reviewer in January 2026 wrote that "Keywords volumes are accurate (I cross-checked them with Google Keyword Planner)". The backlinks get less love: an October 2026 review said the "Backlinks overview function doesn't work anymore".
This is the feature Ubersuggest leads with now. You add the prompts a customer might type into ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews, and it reports whether your brand appears in the answers; a Citation tab added in September 2026 shows which pages the AI cited.
The plan limits decide how useful that is. Individual tracks 10 prompts per brand, refreshed monthly, with one response per prompt. AI answers change from one run to the next, so a single monthly sample is an anecdote rather than a trend. Business moves to 15 prompts every two weeks, still one response each. Only Enterprise reaches 20 prompts weekly with three responses per prompt, which is the first tier where the numbers start to mean something. Lifetime buyers get the "more basic" version unless they add the monthly add-on.
Trustpilot shows 4.1 out of 5 from 577 reviews, checked on October 16, 2026. Ubersuggest's own site advertises "Excellent" from 541+ reviews, which is the same pool seen at a kinder moment. The split is the telling part: 81% five-star and 11% one-star, with little in between.
The happy reviews tend to be small businesses on the lifetime deal; one in January 2026 said it "saved us a ton of money." The unhappy ones cluster around three things. Lifetime regret, as in an October 2026 review that opens "I purchased Ubersuggest Lifetime for nearly $1,000, and I honestly regret that decision." Support, which one reviewer described as "completely outsourced to AI". And reliability, with an August 2026 reviewer calling the system "so buggy and glitched that it was practically unusable". With no refunds on any plan, those complaints carry more weight than they would for a tool you could walk away from.
Ubersuggest is still a sensible buy for one kind of customer: a solo site owner or small business with one or two sites, who wants a simple dashboard for keyword ideas, a weekly audit and weekly rankings, and who would rather pay once than every month. For that person, Individual at $29 a month is enough, and the lifetime plan makes sense if you have used the free account and the trial long enough to know you will still want it in ten months. Buy it knowing the money does not come back.
Skip it if you run an agency: seven projects and two users on Business is a ceiling you will hit, and SE Ranking Core at $129 a month is built for client work. Skip it if links are your job, because Ubersuggest's backlinks are Moz's, and Ahrefs is the tool with its own index. Skip it if you need daily rankings or an API, which no Ubersuggest plan offers; Semrush and SE Ranking both do. And before paying $29, open Ahrefs Starter at the same price and compare the two side by side.
The low price is real. So is the fine print. Ubersuggest is good value for the person who reads both.
