What is AdGuard VPN?

AdGuard VPN comes from AdGuard, the company best known for its powerful cross-platform ad blocker. The VPN carries that same privacy-first philosophy: it encrypts your connection, hides your IP address, and — unusually — uses a custom protocol designed to slip past networks that try to block VPNs. It is one of the most affordable premium VPNs around, and it even offers a genuinely useful free tier.

If you already trust AdGuard to strip ads and trackers from your browsing, its VPN is a natural companion that extends that protection to your whole connection.

How does AdGuard VPN work?

Like any VPN, AdGuard encrypts your traffic and routes it through a remote server so your real location and identity stay hidden. What sets it apart is its proprietary protocol, which is engineered to look like regular HTTPS web traffic. That makes it much harder for restrictive networks — schools, workplaces, or countries that throttle VPNs — to detect and block the connection.

It suits you well if you want to:

• Bypass VPN blocks: stay connected on networks that actively try to stop VPNs.
• Spend less: get solid privacy at one of the lowest prices in the market.
• Try before you buy: use the free 3 GB monthly tier with no payment details.
• Block ads too: combine the VPN with AdGuard's ad and tracker blocking.

Key features

AdGuard VPN keeps things focused, with a few standout tricks aimed at privacy and stealth.

• Custom VPN protocol: disguises your traffic as ordinary HTTPS to evade blocks.
• Ad-blocker synergy: works alongside AdGuard's ad, tracker, and content blocking.
• Kill switch: cuts your internet if the tunnel drops so nothing leaks.
• Split tunneling: choose exactly which apps use the VPN and which bypass it.
• No-logs policy: your browsing activity is not tracked or stored.
• Free tier: 3 GB of traffic per month at no cost, forever.

Pricing and plans

AdGuard VPN is one of the cheapest premium options available. There is a free plan with a monthly data cap, and paid plans that unlock unlimited data, all server locations, and up to 10 devices. Annual billing brings the monthly price right down, and AdGuard frequently runs deep discounts.

AdGuard VPN by the numbers

AdGuard VPN's network is smaller than the giants, but it covers the locations most people actually need and is generous on simultaneous devices.

Apps are available for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and as browser extensions, so you can protect your everyday devices without extra hardware.

Pros and cons

AdGuard VPN's value and stealth are its biggest draws; its network size is the main trade-off.

It is not the VPN to pick if your priority is a giant server fleet or specialised streaming and torrenting servers — but for everyday privacy at a low price, it punches well above its weight.

Verdict

AdGuard VPN is a smart choice for budget-conscious users who want dependable privacy, the ability to beat VPN blocks, and tight integration with a class-leading ad blocker. The free tier makes it effortless to try, and the paid plans are among the most affordable anywhere. If you do not need the biggest network on the market, it delivers excellent value.
