Taplio review, checked September 2026: the $39/mo Starter plan has no AI writing (that jumps to $69/mo), plus recurring billing complaints, an undisclosed AI model, and cheaper alternatives.
Taplio sells itself as "your AI coach for LinkedIn growth," and the banner on its homepage reads "Plans from $39/mo." The number is real. What it buys is not what the pitch implies: the $39/mo Starter plan has no AI post generation at all. Checked on Taplio's pricing pages in September 2026, AI writing starts one tier up, at $69/mo. So the cheapest way onto a tool built around an "AI coach" ships without the coach.
That gap is the whole review. Everything below prices it. Taplio is made by Lempire, the French company behind the outreach tool Lemlist, so it is not a fly-by-night product; the questions are about what the headline number leaves out.
Taplio runs three plans. Prices checked in September 2026 on Taplio's own pricing blog post; the live pricing page is JavaScript-rendered and does not spell out per-tier AI credit or seat limits in plain text, so treat any exact credit count you read elsewhere with suspicion.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually | AI post writing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $39/mo | $32/mo ($384/yr) | No |
| Growth | $69/mo | $49/mo ($588/yr) | Yes |
| Pro | $199/mo | $149/mo ($1,788/yr) | Yes, unlimited + lead outreach |
Starter buys the scheduling suite: a post queue, calendar, best-time suggestions, company pages, and core analytics. Growth adds the AI writing, reply and comment tools, and team collaboration. Pro layers on unlimited AI posts and comments, automated lead outreach, and priority support. The jump most buyers feel is the first one, $39 to $69, and it exists because the feature named on the tin lives on the far side of it.
Once you reach Growth, three questions decide whether the writing is worth it, and Taplio's marketing pages answer none of them.
Which model? Taplio does not name the model behind its post generation. No GPT, no Claude, nothing. The only model names on the site sit in an unrelated claim that you can drive Taplio "from Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP-enabled LLM," which describes an outside agent calling Taplio, not what writes your drafts. If the underlying model changes, you would not be told.
Does your content train it? The privacy policy is silent. It says data is used to "provide and maintain our Service" and to "gather analysis ... so that we can improve our Service," and that unnamed "Service Providers" may access it. No AI subprocessor is named, and nowhere does it say your posts are, or are not, used for model training. For a tool whose whole job is reading and generating your writing, that silence is itself the answer.
Who owns the output? The Terms of Service make you "responsible for using this Content" without granting you explicit ownership, and disclaim liability for what the AI produces on the grounds that "the artificial intelligence is unbiased." You carry the risk; the ownership grant is missing.
Taplio holds 3.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot across 19 reviews, checked in September 2026; the figure moves as new reviews land. The low scores cluster on one theme, and it is not the product. It is the bill.
The 7-day free trial gives full Pro-tier access but requires a credit card to start, and reviewers describe being charged when they expected not to be. "Made it look like I will not be charged after the free trial," writes one, over a 60-plus-euro monthly charge. "Billing without notification, very poor transparency," writes another. "They don't tell you about upcoming renewals, they just charge your card," writes a third. One reviewer was "offered a 99% discount while leaving and was fully charged"; another simply could not connect to Taplio to cancel.
Taplio's own pages say cancellation is self-serve from the Settings then Billing tab, that the trial is free to cancel, and that a 30-day money-back window applies after payment. The refund clause in the Terms backs it up: refunds "within thirty (30) days of the original purchase." So the tools to dodge the charge exist. The pattern in the reviews is that people did not find them in time, so set a reminder the day you start the trial.
Taplio touches your LinkedIn account to schedule, engage, and on the Pro tier to run lead outreach. LinkedIn's own Terms restrict automation, and Taplio's Terms are blunt about who eats the consequence: use Taplio "in any way that infringes on LinkedIn's Terms of Service ... and you will be solely responsible should your LinkedIn account be subject to any action undertaken by LinkedIn." Read plainly, if outreach automation gets your account restricted, that is your loss, not Taplio's. Weigh it before you point the Pro plan's automated outreach at the profile you actually rely on.
Two competitors frame Taplio's price. Supergrow bundles AI writing into its $39/mo Pro plan ($31/mo billed annually), the exact price at which Taplio's Starter plan writes nothing. Matching Taplio's AI writing means paying $69/mo for Growth, $30/mo more than Supergrow charges for an AI-equipped tier that also throws in a carousel maker and unlimited "Postcast AI" interviews. Supergrow's entry Starter plan is $19/mo.
AuthoredUp takes the other route. It skips AI generation and concentrates on writing, formatting, and analytics for a single profile at $19.95/mo ($16.63/mo billed annually), and its free trial needs no credit card, unlike Taplio's. If your real problem is drafting and previewing posts rather than generating them, it costs about a quarter of Taplio's Growth plan.
Taplio is a competent LinkedIn scheduler with an AI writer bolted onto a tier above where the marketing implies. Buy Growth at $69/mo if you want scheduling, AI drafting, and engagement tools in one console from an established company, and you will genuinely use the outreach and team features. Then set a calendar reminder to cancel before the trial renews, because the reviews are near-unanimous that the bill is where this relationship sours.
Skip it if AI writing is the only reason you came: Supergrow gives you that at $39/mo, the same price Taplio charges for a plan that cannot write. Skip the Pro plan's automated outreach on any account you can't afford to lose, because the Terms put every restriction squarely on you. "Plans from $39/mo" is true; just know the coach costs $69.
