Hyax review: plans from $29 to $199/month, what Starter really includes, where Hyax's own pages contradict each other, support, exports and who should skip it.
Most Hyax reviews still online describe software that no longer exists. The 2021 write-ups cover a store and course builder priced at $49 and $99 a month. Then came Hyax 2.0, a link-in-bio app called Hy.page, sold as an AppSumo lifetime deal and later as a $249 one-time beta, with an audience page that pitched it to models as an OnlyFans alternative. That page now returns a 404.
What hyax.com sells today is Hyax 3.0, "the AI-native online business operating system": a CMS with a blog, email, a store with courses and memberships, a community, a helpdesk, and AI agents meant to run your marketing. The pitch fits in one line on the home page - "One $29 subscription replaces the whole creator stack" - and the stack it names is WordPress, Kit, Kajabi, Buffer, Intercom and Linktree.
Co-founder Kevin Tang is candid about the road here. In a July 2026 essay he writes that Hyax 2.0 "simplified our app to basically a link-in-bio product" and that "the launch was meh." The company has zero funding and no employees, just two founders: Tang on product and Jack Paxton, the CEO in the demo video, on marketing. That is useful context before you move a paying audience onto it. The team is tiny, and the product has changed shape three times in five years.
This review tests the $29 claim against Hyax's own pricing page, terms and help centre, all checked on October 8, 2026.
There are four plans, all billed monthly. The pricing page shows a Monthly/Yearly toggle, but on October 8, 2026 it carried only monthly prices, so there is no annual discount to report. The $199 Beast tier appears in the comparison table without a Subscribe button of its own.
| Starter | Pro | Power | Beast | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price per month | $29 | $49 | $99 | $199 |
| Team members | 1 | 5 | 10 | Unlimited |
| File storage | 15 GB | 100 GB | 500 GB | 1 TB |
| Site visits per month | 100k | 500k | 1M | 4M |
| AI credits included | 500 ($5) | 2,500 ($25) | 10,000 ($100) | 30,000 ($300) |
| Platform email sends per month | 10k | 50k | 100k | 250k |
| Branding | Hyax branding | Light branding | White label | White label |
Contacts are unlimited on every plan, and so is email sent through your own provider's API key (the terms name Resend). That second detail matters more than it looks. Starter's 10,000 platform sends are gone after two newsletters to a 5,000-person list, so a weekly sender on the $29 plan is really budgeting for a Resend account as well.
AI work is metered in credits, at 100 credits to the dollar. Hyax's own estimates put a blog post at 2-5 cents, an image at 3-8 cents and a landing page at 15-40 cents, so Starter's $5 of credits covers 100 or more drafts a month. That is generous for one writer. Storage is the tighter limit. Capacity add-ons, from Boost at $20 a month to Max at $160, are sold on the Beast plan only, which means a Starter account that fills its 15 GB with course video has to move up a plan rather than buy a top-up.
Read the site end to end and four claims do not line up. None is a scandal by itself. Together they say a lot about how settled the product is.
Hyax puts a number on it. Its comparison page, at 10,000 subscribers, estimates Kajabi at $199 a month, Circle at $179, Intercom at $145, Podia at $119, Beehiiv at $113, Ghost at $106, MailerLite at $52 and Kit at $0, against Hyax at $29. Those are Hyax's estimates rather than quotes from the vendors, and the footnotes show Kajabi's Growth tier being set against Hyax Starter.
The feature list is wide enough to make the claim plausible on paper. The course side has drip content, video hosting, quizzes and certificates; the store has coupons, bundles and one-click upsells. Payments land directly in your own Stripe account through Stripe Connect, in 135+ currencies, and the home page adds PayPal and native USDC checkout. Automations are sold as a replacement for Zapier and Make, with MCP for wiring in your own tools.
The fair comparison is against the $29 limits, though, not the feature list. Starter is one seat, 15 GB of storage and Hyax branding on your pages. At typical upload bitrates, six or seven hours of 1080p course video fills 15 GB, and full white label starts at Power. At $99 Hyax still undercuts its own Kajabi estimate, but by $100 a month, not $170.
The AI agents are the newest part. They draft posts, alt text and landing pages, and the home page shows a ChatGPT answer recommending a Hyax customer, Blitz Rocket, as proof that Hyax lifts AI-search visibility. A testimonial says the same. Both sit on Hyax's own marketing page and neither is a controlled result. Treat AI-search gains as a hope, not a feature.
Support is the weakest part, and Hyax says so itself. Its help article "Starting the Hyax support desk", last updated October 7, 2026, reads: "We are just starting the support desk. Please contact us through the support chat." The help-centre index calls itself under construction, and on October 8 it held three articles. No plan lists support hours or response times. The 99signals review of the original product in 2021 complained there was no live chat; chat exists now, but the documentation around it barely does.
Leaving deserves more thought than joining. The cancellation article tells you to export your data first, then warns that your account "and all associated data will be permanently deleted" and that this "cannot be undone". Nothing says what the export holds - customers, students, course progress - or in which format. The terms confirm you own your content, and a developer API exists, but ownership without a documented export is thin protection. A course business with 2,000 students should test the exit before it moves in.
History is the other caution. The Hy.page lifetime deal sold out on AppSumo with a 4.8-star average over 191 reviews, but the one-star reviews from 2022 describe an app that felt like an alpha and pages that would not publish. Two years later the product was a link-in-bio tool; now it is an AI CMS. A product that has pivoted twice can pivot again.
Buy Hyax if you are a solo creator starting from nothing and want a blog, a newsletter, a small course or digital product and a link-in-bio page on one $29-$49 bill. You take payments through Stripe, you can live with a young product run by two people, and the 0% platform fee beats the 10% Hyax says Gumroad keeps from every sale. For that person the included AI credits are real value.
Skip it if you already earn from courses. A paying student base needs a documented export, published support times and a roadmap that will look the same next year, and Hyax offers none of the three today. Stay on Teachable or Thinkific, or look at Podia if the bill is the problem. Newsletter-first writers get a more mature email product from Kit, Beehiiv or MailerLite. And if you want a cheap all-in-one with a longer track record, Systeme.io is the safer bet.
Worth a month of Starter for a new creator. Not yet a home for an established business.
