Peppertype.ai now redirects to Pepper's agency site. Its old pricing, the Pepper CMP move, locked-out lifetime deals and the best alternatives today.
Type peppertype.ai into a browser today and you never see Peppertype. Checked on 2026-10-23: both peppertype.ai and app.peppertype.ai answer with a 301 to peppercontent.io/peppertype-ai, which answers with a second 301 to pepper.inc. The page you land on is titled "Pepper | Organic Growth Company", and the word "peppertype" appears zero times in its HTML. No login form. No signup button.
That redirect is the review. Peppertype was the GPT-3 copywriting tool from Pepper Content, a Mumbai content marketplace, and for a couple of years it sat on the same shortlists as Jasper and Copy.ai. We found no shutdown notice. What we did find is a slower disappearance: the product was folded into another platform in March 2023, the company rebranded as Pepper on October 16, 2025, and by November 4, 2025 the old address pointed at an agency homepage selling "Pepper SEO + GEO", "Pepper Creative", "Pepper Content" and "Pepper AI".
If a 2022 listicle sent you here: you cannot buy it. Below is what it was, what it cost, what happened to its paying users, and what replaces it.
Peppertype was a template machine for short copy. The November 2022 homepage claimed "45+ content types", grouped into Content Packs - SEO, Website, Product, Performance, Copywriting and Brainstorming. You picked a template, typed a product name and a line of context, and got several variants back to pick from.
The templates were the familiar 2021 set: Google and Facebook ad copy, meta descriptions, blog intros, outlines and conclusions, Amazon product titles and bullet points, YouTube descriptions, Quora answers, cold emails and subject lines. Copywriting frameworks had templates of their own - AIDA, Pain-Agitate-Solution, Before-After-Bridge - alongside a Content Rewriter and a Content Simplifier.
Underneath was GPT-3. The 2021 Terms of Service describe software "which houses AI-generated short-form content with the help of GPT-3", and we found no later statement naming GPT-4 or anything newer. That matches what the product was good at: a 30-word ad headline, not a 1,500-word article. Three limits lived in the FAQ rather than on the feature page. There was no API ("No, we do not offer API as of now. We do on-demand integrations"). The tool was English-first, though it claimed to support "all global languages". And your inputs were "encrypted and stored in our servers based in Mumbai, India."
It was not a fringe tool: the homepage claimed "100K+ Active users", and it placed #3 in AI & Machine Learning at Product Hunt's 2021 Golden Kitty Awards.
Every price below is historical, taken from archived copies of peppertype.ai/pricing. The March 2023 page is the last one Peppertype published before the redirect.
| Plan | June 2021 / January 2022 | March 2023 |
|---|---|---|
| Free | "Create 100+ copies", no credit card | - |
| Starter / Personal | $35/month, or $25/month billed yearly ($300) | $35/month, 20% off annually; 50,000 words, 40+ content types |
| Growth / Team | $199/month, or $165/month billed yearly ($1,980), from 5 seats | $199/month ($2,388 a year), 5-seat minimum |
| Enterprise | Custom, with a model "trained just for you" | Custom, "truly unlimited copies" under a Fair Usage Policy |
The word limit moved fast. In June 2021 Starter promised "Unlimited Content Generation"; by January 2022 the same $35 bought 50,000 words per seat. The five-seat minimum on Team meant the cheapest shared workspace was $199 a month, close to $40 per person for GPT-3 templates.
The page also said "You can cancel the subscription anytime. We don't offer any lock-ins." Monthly subscribers were protected by that - when the product changed, they could stop paying. The people who got hurt had paid up front.
From March 2023, peppertype.ai stopped serving its own site and redirected to a migration page on peppercontent.io. That page, still live in an October 6, 2025 snapshot, said "Peppertype just got better!" and offered "Book a demo", "Existing User Login" and "Start a Free Trial". Its FAQ was all reassurance. The migration "would just change the appearance of the platform that you have been using so far." "There are no major changes to your current plan." And on word counts: "Yes, the word count remains the same, the good news is Pepper CMP has much more to offer."
Pepper CMP was a different kind of product: a content marketing platform with keyword research, topic suggestions, a docs editor with an AI assistant, WordPress publishing and rank tracking. Pepper's own screenshots of it show none of the old template grid.
Then Pepper Content became Pepper. The October 16, 2025 rebrand presented an "AI-native marketing services company" with four offerings and growth of "over 300% across North America and India". Peppertype is not mentioned. Within three weeks the migration page redirected to the agency homepage, and support.peppertype.ai and help.peppertype.ai no longer resolve - so there is not even a help centre left to ask.
Peppertype sold a lifetime deal on AppSumo, and the listing still shows 4.8 stars from 1,092 ratings (checked on 2026-10-23). That average is built on 2021 enthusiasm. The dated reviews tell the later story. On February 19, 2025 a buyer wrote that "the User Interface has totally change" and that "Content Types & Templates" were missing. Five days later another said that "without any alert, our account doesn't work anymore. They rebranded to peppercontent… nobody is answering that email". On May 14, 2025: "They have moved everything useful under Premium Deeming my LTD useless. It is a web-based word editor now."
Trustpilot says the same at a lower volume. The page scores 4.3 from 836 reviews, but the five most recent, running from August 2023 to February 2025, are all one star: buyers describe being locked out of the features they paid for and losing their lifetime-deal money. Older reviews credit it with saving hundreds of hours of client copywriting, which is why the score holds up. Product Hunt shows 3.5 stars from six reviews, one reading "They deleted my Lifetime Licence paid account without my permission".
The pattern is worth carrying to the next lifetime deal you see. A lifetime licence lasts as long as the product name does, and a vendor that renames the product can decide the licence covered the old one.
Peppertype's own documents disagreed about who owned the copy. The 2022-23 FAQ said plainly, "Yes, you own all the content generated by you on Peppertype.ai." The 2021 Terms of Service said the service "is provided only for your own personal and non-commercial use", granted a "limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable" licence "solely for your use", and kept "the intellectual property rights" in the platform with the company. For a tool sold to agencies writing client ads, that is an awkward gap, and we found no later terms that closed it.
On training we found nothing - no clause either way on whether your prompts fed the model. There is also no app left to export from: Peppertype copy now exists only wherever you pasted it.
Peppertype's job splits four ways now. Prices below were checked on each vendor's pricing page on 2026-10-23.
| Tool | Price | Replaces Peppertype for |
|---|---|---|
| Rytr | Free (10,000 characters/month); Lite $9/month ($7.20 yearly); Personal $19 ($15.20); Pro $49 ($39.20) | Cheap template copy - the closest match |
| Copy.ai | Chat $29/month, or $24/month billed $288 a year, 5 seats | Small teams, workflow automation |
| Jasper | Pro $69/seat monthly, $59 billed annually, 7-day trial | Team marketing copy with a brand voice |
| Writesonic | Starter $79/month, free trial with no card | Long-form SEO articles |
Rytr is the like-for-like swap: short templates, a free tier big enough to test, and Personal at $19 a month is $16 less than Peppertype's last Personal price. What you give up is polish - it is a template tool, exactly as Peppertype was, and it will not plan an article for you.
A five-person team that would once have paid $199 for Peppertype Team gets five seats of Copy.ai Chat for $29 a month; our Copy.ai review covers where its Growth tier jumps to $1,000. Jasper costs far more - five annual seats run $295 a month - and is only worth it if brand-voice control across a team is the point. Writesonic does the thing Peppertype never did well, long SEO articles, but $79 a month is a lot for ad headlines; see our Writesonic review.
Do not try to buy Peppertype.ai. There is nothing to buy: as of October 23, 2026 every Peppertype address ends on the homepage of an organic-growth agency, and nothing there sells a self-serve writing tool.
If you wanted it for $35-a-month ad and product copy, try Rytr's free plan and move to Personal at $19. A small team gets five Copy.ai Chat seats for $29, a seventh of what Peppertype Team cost. A marketing department that needs one brand voice should pay for Jasper. And if you hold an old Peppertype lifetime deal, assume it is gone - the support domains do not resolve, and buyers in 2025 report emails going unanswered.
GPT-3 copy aged badly everywhere. A prepaid licence on a product that could be renamed aged worse.
