Pitchbox review: a one-year commitment on every plan, Pro from $210/mo for 2 users and 2,000 emails, the new AI Conversation Agent, and when to pick BuzzStream.
Pitchbox has always sat at the expensive end of link-building software. What changed in 2026 is the exit. In December 2025 its pricing FAQ answered "Do I need to sign a contract or make a long-term commitment?" with "No, there is no contract or long-term commitment required", and said you could cancel at any time. The same page, checked on October 29, 2026, now reads: "all plans require a commitment of one year, regardless of billing frequency."
So the monthly option is a payment schedule, not a way out. Pro billed monthly shows "$300 /mo" and, underneath, "Billed monthly for 1 yr." That is $3,600 committed before you send a single email. Pay annually and it drops to $210 a month, or $2,520 for the year. Cancel mid-term and, per the FAQ, "your access will remain active until the end of your current contract period". No refund policy is stated anywhere on the page.
That changes the question. It is no longer whether Pitchbox earns a month of testing. It is whether it earns a year. For most small buyers the answer is no. For one specific kind of agency it is still yes.
Pitchbox covers the whole link-building loop in one app: find sites, find the right person, send a sequence, track replies through to a live link. Prospecting is the part competitors struggle to match. You give it "a topic, keywords, or your competitors' sites" and it returns sites enriched with verified contacts, either from a SERP finder that accepts advanced search operators or from campaigns built on Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz or Majestic data. Connect Ahrefs and you can run Competitor Backlinks, URL Backlinks and Broken Backlinks campaigns without leaving Pitchbox.
The pricing page leaves out one cost. Those integrations run on your own API keys - the help centre tells you to "make sure you have access to your API keys" - so an Ahrefs or Semrush plan with API access sits on top of the Pitchbox bill. Our Ahrefs review and Semrush review cover what those tiers cost.
Discovery spends data credits: 1 per website, 2 per verified email. Pro includes 600K credits a year, enough for roughly 300,000 verified emails. That is generous. The sending limits are the real ceiling.
Pro allows 2,000 outreach emails a month across 2 users and 2 mailboxes. Advanced allows 5,000 across 6 mailboxes, Scale 25,000 across 20. On top of that, the help centre caps every campaign at 150 emails a day, and a mailbox's limit is "shared across all the campaigns it's attached to" - three campaigns on one Gmail account split one allowance rather than getting three. On Pro, 2,000 a month averages about 65 a day, so the monthly total is the wall you hit first, not the daily cap.
Gmail, Microsoft 365 and plain IMAP/SMTP connect on every plan. Exchange, SendGrid, Mailgun and Mandrill need Advanced. Email rotation, which spreads a campaign's sends across mailboxes in turn so no single address carries the load, is missing from Pro too.
Every plan does get the MX Right integration, which Pitchbox says "scores every mailbox daily and watches over 80 blacklists".
The newest banner on the homepage reads "Introducing AI Conversation Agent". Its help guide, updated October 23, 2026, says the agent can "negotiate pricing within your defined limits" and "close opportunities as Won or Lost". That goes well past AI-written first emails. Paid-link and guest-post outreach is mostly haggling over fees and chasing silent prospects, and that is exactly the work this agent is built to take over: you write the playbook and the price ceiling, it handles the back-and-forth.
It is also brand new. Pitchbox ran a webinar introducing AI Agents and Playbooks on October 13, 2026, and there is no independent record yet of how well it negotiates. Letting software agree to spend a client's money is a policy decision before it is a feature. The campaign settings offer "Create a Draft Reply" as well as "Send Reply", so you can keep a person approving every message until you trust it. Start there, on low-stakes campaigns.
The older AI features are easier to judge. AI Personalization, launched in February 2025, writes a per-prospect opening line; doing it in bulk needs Advanced or Scale. AI Custom Fields run either on "Pitchbox AI" or on your own OpenAI or Anthropic key. Pitchbox charges nothing extra for them, but on your own key the model bill is yours, and it grows with every prospect you enrich.
Figures from pitchbox.com/pricing, checked on October 29, 2026. Older third-party reviews quote Pro at $165 or $195 a month; those prices no longer exist.

Pitchbox pitches Pro "for link builders with a single website", and the omissions match. No API. No white-label client reports, no team performance reports, no recurring campaigns, no Google index checks, no managed onboarding, and link monitoring stops at 1,000 links. An agency cannot hand a client a Pro report, which makes Advanced the real entry point for anyone billing others: $5,040 a year at the cheapest.
Per email, the large plans are far better value. At full use, annual Pro works out to about 10.5 cents per outreach email, Advanced 8.4 cents and Scale 3.3 cents. The pricing is built for volume and it punishes the small buyer.
Expert-led implementation is listed at $2,000 on Pro, $3,000 on Advanced and $4,000 on Scale, included when you pay annually. There is no self-serve free plan: a trial goes through a sales demo, and the site does not say how long it lasts or whether a card is needed.
Export is better than the contract suggests. Contacts download from a campaign's actions menu under "Download Contacts", and opportunities export to CSV "complete with the domain, url, milestone, tags, metrics". That is enough to rebuild a pipeline in BuzzStream or a spreadsheet. It works campaign by campaign, though, so a large account means a lot of clicking unless you are on Advanced or above, where the API can pull it instead.
Changing plans is murkier. The pricing FAQ says you can upgrade or downgrade "at any time", with upgrades prorated and downgrades applied next billing cycle. The help centre says plan changes go through your Customer Success Manager, support or live chat. Under a one-year commitment, get it in writing before you sign whether a downgrade lowers the remaining payments or waits until renewal.
The company behind it is Pitchbox, LLC, under Pennsylvania law with disputes heard in Montgomery County. Co-founders Alex Gopshtein and Michael Geneles still front the product themselves, down to hosting the AI agents webinar.
BuzzStream is the obvious move for anyone put off by the lock-in. Its pricing page is blunt: "Plans are monthly and there's no minimum term." Starter is $49 a month for 1 user and 500 contacts, Growth $174 for 3 users, Professional $424 for 6. A full year of Starter costs less than two months of Pitchbox Pro billed monthly. You give up Pitchbox's prospecting depth, the native Ahrefs backlink campaigns and the AI agent.
Respona went the other way and now sells results rather than seats. Its pricing page lists pay-per-placement from $100 to $500 per link, with no software price shown at all. That suits a brand that wants links, not a team that wants a tool.
For smaller-scale outreach, Postaga, LinkHunter and cold-email tools such as lemlist cost a fraction of Pitchbox, though none of them prospects from backlink data as directly.
Pitchbox shows a 4.7/5 G2 rating on its own site, plus testimonials from people at Ahrefs, Semrush and Backlinko. Capterra reviewers, mostly in older reviews, have complained about the price for small businesses and a complicated interface. Both fit what the pricing page says today: this is software for teams that do outreach all day.
Buy it if you run a link-building agency or sell links, send several thousand outreach emails a month, already pay for Ahrefs or Semrush API access, and will use the API, white-label reports and the AI agent. That means Advanced or Scale, and at that size the per-email price and the prospecting justify a year.
Skip it if you are one site owner or a two-person team testing whether link building pays off. Pro costs $2,520 at the very least, locked for 12 months, without the reports or API that make Pitchbox worth its price. Start on BuzzStream's $49 monthly plan instead, and come back when the volume demands it.
