Simplified review: the Riley AI marketing agent, campaign pricing from $79/month, the $10 extra-campaign maths, no free plan, no refunds, and who should skip it.
For most of its life Simplified sold itself as the cheap all-in-one: a Canva-style editor, an AI writer, a video tool and a social scheduler under one login, with a Free Forever plan underneath. Those tools are still there. They are no longer what you pay for. On July 30, 2026 Simplified launched Riley, an AI marketing agent, and rebuilt its pricing around it - the homepage now reads "AI Agents for Marketing Workflows" and the pricing page bills by the campaign.
Riley's pitch is one sentence in, a finished week out. You type something like "Launch our new product next Friday". Riley reads your brand assets, products, past posts and channel rules, picks the angle, channel mix and schedule, then makes the pieces: copy, designs and a video "scripted and cast with an AI actor". Nothing goes out until you approve it. In Simplified's words, "One tap ships it; one tap sends it back with a note." Review is on by default and auto-publish is opt-in per workflow, which is the right default for software that posts in your brand's name.
Two details matter more than the demo. Every draft, edit, approval and post stays in a history, so you can see who signed off on what. And agencies get separate brand assets, social accounts and approval gates per client, which is what stops one client's post landing on another client's page. You can pause Riley from the app, from Slack or from the command line, and Simplified says Claude, Codex and Cursor can drive the same system through MCP.
Checked on the pricing page on October 23, 2026. Three plans, no free one.
| Plan | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Campaigns / month | Seats | Per included campaign |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | from $79/month | 5 | not stated | $15.80 | |
| Pro | $99/month | $119/month | 15 | 3 | $6.60 - $7.93 |
| Business | $199/month | $239/month | 40 | 7 | $4.98 - $5.98 |
Starter caps the raw tools at 100K AI words, 100 AI designs, 50 AI videos, 7 social accounts, 5 GB of storage and one brand kit. Pro and Business make words, designs and videos unlimited; Business adds bulk scheduling, external client approval and campaign analytics. The page's structured data lists Starter at $79 annual and $59 monthly, which is inverted and looks like a markup error. The visible copy says "$79 per month", so budget $79 and confirm the monthly figure at checkout.
A campaign is "a social batch (6 posts), an email sequence (3 to 5 emails), or a paid ad creative set (3 A/B variants for Meta or Google)". Starter's five campaigns are therefore 30 social posts a month - about one a day on a single channel, with nothing left for email.
The arithmetic that the page does not do for you: extra campaigns are $10 each on any plan, which is cheaper than the $15.80 each of Starter's own five. Starter plus four extras costs $119 for nine campaigns. That is exactly Pro's monthly price, and Pro gives you 15 campaigns, three seats and unlimited AI output. Expect more than eight campaigns a month and Starter is the wrong plan. Expect fewer than five and you are paying for campaigns you throw away, because the FAQ answers "Do unused campaigns roll over to the next month?" with "They don't."
For scale, Simplified's own comparison table lists Jasper at $59/month, ChatGPT Plus at $20 and HubSpot Marketing Hub at $800 - those are Simplified's figures, not checked on the rivals' sites. Its own past is the sharper comparison. Third-party summaries put the old Pro plan at around $9/month billed annually and Growth at $49, so the entry price is now close to nine times what it was.
Read Simplified's support articles before you buy and you will find plans that the pricing page no longer sells. The help center still documents a Free Forever plan with unlimited design projects, 1GB of storage, 2,000 AI words a month and three social channels. A credit-system article updated on September 8, 2026 still prices Simplified One, Business and Growth at 10,000, 30,000 and 100,000 credits, with 1 credit per 100 words, 60-100 credits per image and 1,505 credits per 60-second video. None of those names appear on the current pricing page, and the homepage's own social card still advertises "Free to start".
Seats are where this bites. One support article says "Simplified plans are often per-seat. You will see a new charge whenever a new member is added to your workspace." An older one says plan prices include up to five seats. The pricing page says three on Pro and seven on Business, and no page names the price of an extra seat. If you plan to add a teammate, get that figure from support in writing first.
What replaces the free plan is a 7-day trial for $1 with full Starter access - five campaigns, 100K AI words, 100 AI designs. It converts to a paid subscription automatically at the end, and the refund policy says you "must cancel at least 24 hours before the 7-day trial expires." Set a reminder for day five, not day seven.
The image generator lets you pick between "Flux, Recraft, Ideogram, Google Gemini, OpenAI GPT Image, Stable Diffusion, Qwen, and Seedream" from one workspace, and the video generator claims 10+ models including Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0. That is a real advantage over a single-model tool: when one model mangles hands or text, you switch rather than re-prompt.
The AI writer is the opposite. Simplified does not say which text model sits underneath it anywhere we could find, so you cannot tell whether copy quality will change when the vendor behind it does. For a product that now writes your whole campaign, that is the model that matters most.
On training, the privacy policy (last updated May 5, 2026) is blunt: "Your data is never used to train AI." It names no AI subprocessors, though, so you know your prompts do not train Simplified's models but not which third parties receive them. Ownership is weaker on paper than in marketing. The terms of service date from September 2022, say you "retain full ownership" of your contributions and have no clause on AI output. The Riley launch post goes further - "You own everything it makes - copy, designs, video - and you keep it even if you cancel" - but that is a blog promise, not contract language.
This is the section to read twice. The refund policy, updated April 21, 2026, opens with "We do not offer refunds" and adds that "All subscriptions, including monthly and annual plans, are non-refundable." The only opening is a charge that was reported and paid within the last 24 hours. Add-on credits are "final and non-refundable". On an annual Business plan that is $2,388 with no way back after day one.
Cancelling has three traps. Deleting the app, deleting your data or simply not logging in "does not constitute a cancellation". If your workspace has more than one member, you have to remove every other member before the cancel button will work - awkward for an agency mid-handover. And pausing is not cancelling: billing restarts by itself when the pause ends. The pricing page's "Cancel any time from your account settings. No cancellation fees" is true, but it is not the whole story.
Simplified's Trustpilot profile for simplified.com scores 4.6 out of 5 from 654 reviews, and Simplified quotes G2 at 4.6 from 5,008+ reviews on its own pricing page. The same Trustpilot profile shows the company does not reply to negative reviews. A separate simplified.co profile, which appears to collect reviews from Simplified customers, sits at 1.7 from 47.
The one-star reviews repeat one story: charged after cancelling, or renewed without warning. "Canceled my membership the first time I used it and removed all my cards, and charged me 165 pounds when cancelling," wrote one reviewer in February 2026. Another was "charged $216 without any email reminder" after their first year and got no answer to a refund request. Given the no-refund policy above, those complaints are the policy working as written.
The rest is about the product. "The ai tool is good but the site is so slow and choppy and too much lag," reads a two-star review from October 2025. Others say credit rules changed often enough to feel like a price rise. Most of these predate Riley, so treat them as a record of the company's habits rather than a test of the agent. Even the headline number wobbles: the pricing page claims "15 million+ users" near the top and "10M+ marketers" further down.
Buy Simplified if you are a solo marketer or a small agency that runs at least five campaigns a month and wants planning, production, approval and scheduling in one queue. The per-client approval gates and the draft history are the parts a plain AI writer cannot copy. At that volume, start on Pro rather than Starter - the maths above makes Pro cheaper from the tenth campaign on - and an agency running more than 25 campaigns a month is better off on Business at about $5 a campaign.
Skip it if you mostly need design: Canva does the editor part for far less and keeps a free tier. Skip it if you only need copy: Jasper, Copy.ai or Writesonic cost less and do not tie you to a campaign quota. And skip it if you need a safety net. No free plan, no refunds, no rollover and a trial that converts on its own add up to a product you should test hard in the $1 week and cancel early if it does not earn its $79.
