Local Falcon review: credit pricing worked out per grid, white-label and API plan limits, AI search scans, user complaints, and how it compares with Whitespark and BrightLocal.
Local Falcon's pricing page lists unlimited keywords and unlimited locations on every plan, which sounds generous until you notice what is metered instead. One credit buys one map pin. A 5x5 grid scan costs 25 credits, a 9x9 costs 81, and the largest 21x21 grid costs 441 credits for a single keyword, once. The $24.99 sticker tells you almost nothing; grid size times keywords times scan frequency is the real price.
Local Falcon was started by SEO consultant Yan Gilbert, has been around since roughly 2018, and is run by Local Falcon LLC out of Erie, Pennsylvania. It began as a Google Maps grid scanner. It now scans seven platforms: Google Maps, Apple Maps, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Grok. All of them draw from the same credit pool.
Because the pricing page does not do the arithmetic, we did. These figures are our calculations from the published one-pin-one-credit rule, with "weekly" counted as four scans a month:
| Tracking setup | Credits per month | Smallest plan that covers it |
|---|---|---|
| 10 keywords, 7x7 grid, weekly | 1,960 | Starter (7,500) |
| 10 keywords, 13x13 grid, weekly | 6,760 | Starter, with 740 to spare |
| 1 keyword, 21x21 grid, daily | 13,230 | Basic (15,150) |
| Agency: 20 clients x 10 keywords, 9x9, weekly | 64,800 | Over Premium (63,150) - Enterprise territory |
Put differently, Starter's 7,500 credits buy seventeen full 21x21 scans and not one more. Grid size is the lever that matters. You can also switch off individual grid points, such as pins that land in a lake, so you stop paying for places no customer stands.
Plans as listed on localfalcon.com/pricing, checked in October 2026:
| Plan | Monthly | Credits / month | Annual | Credits / year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $24.99 | 7,500 | $299.88 | 90,000 |
| Basic | $49.99 | 15,150 | $599.88 | 183,000 |
| Pro | $99.99 | 31,250 | $1,199.88 | 383,000 |
| Premium | $199.99 | 63,150 | $2,399.88 | 778,000 |
Volume barely moves the unit price. Starter credits cost about $0.0033 each and Premium credits about $0.0032, a saving Local Falcon itself puts at 5%. Annual billing costs exactly twelve monthly fees and adds up to about 3% more credits than twelve monthly bills would, plus month-to-month rollover. Enterprise runs from $499 to $4,999 a month for 157,000 to 1,570,000 credits.
The expensive mistake is running out. Pay-as-you-go credits cost $0.05 each and never expire - roughly fifteen times the subscription rate, so one 21x21 scan bought that way costs $22.05. G2 reviewers say billing can run away when you exceed your credits without projecting spend, and this is the mechanism.
Expiry is described four different ways across the pricing table, the pricing FAQ, the help centre and the Terms of Use. The reading that fits all of them: monthly-plan credits expire at the end of each month, annual-plan credits roll over month to month and expire at year end, and unused credits are never refunded. The help centre also lists slightly rounder credit totals than the pricing table (15,000 instead of 15,150 on Basic, for example), so trust the pricing table.
Add-ons are priced separately. A Falcon AI analysis report costs 25 credits. A Reviews Analysis report costs $19 per location and compares up to 1,000 of your Google reviews with three top competitors. Falcon Guard is $0.10 per location, sold in blocks of ten. The free trial is 100 credits with no card required: enough for one 9x9 scan, which shows you what a grid looks like but says nothing about how rankings move over a month.
A scan drops a grid of pins around your business, from 3x3 up to 21x21, over a radius you set anywhere from 0.1 to 100 miles (the default is one mile). At each pin Local Falcon records where you rank for the keyword, as if a searcher were standing on that spot. The result is a coloured map: green where you sit in the top three, red where you vanish.
Three numbers summarise the map. SoLV (Share of Local Voice, a Local Falcon trademark) is the share of pins where you rank in the top three, the local pack. ARP is your average rank across only the pins where you appear in the top 20. ATRP averages across every pin, counting the ones where you are outside the top 20.
Watch ARP. A dentist who ranks third on four pins and nowhere on the other 45 posts an ARP of 3, which looks excellent and is close to meaningless. ATRP is the honest number, and it is the one to put in a client report.
This is where Local Falcon has moved fastest. ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews scans arrived in August 2025, and by January 2026 scheduled campaigns could run on all five AI platforms. Instead of a map rank, an AI scan reports SAIV (Share of AI Voice), a Buyer Persuasion Score from -10 to +10 for how favourably the answer presents you, and the phrases the model uses about your brand. Sentiment scoring reached the reports and the API in September 2026.
The catch is cost. Local Falcon says AI scans use the same credit system as map scans but publishes no per-point rate for them, so you cannot budget an AI campaign from the pricing page. Run one small grid and watch your balance before you schedule anything.
Most of the reporting is on every plan: campaign, competitor and trend reports, scheduled scans, service-area business scans, public report links, CSV and PDF exports, and a Looker Studio connector. The pricing page lists no seat limit and no data-retention period, so ask before you depend on either.
White-label reports are the exception. They are marked "No" on Starter, Basic and Pro, monthly or annual, and "Yes" only on Premium. An agency that wants client-branded PDFs pays $199.99 a month even if it needs a fraction of the 63,150 credits. Looker Studio data is white-labelled from Basic up, which is the cheaper route if your clients already live in dashboards.
API and automation access is muddier. The pricing table shows the API, Zapier and Looker Studio on every plan including Starter monthly. The pricing FAQ says the API is free on anything larger than Starter monthly; the help centre says any annual plan or any monthly plan above Starter. Falcon Agent, which can run scans and edit your Google Business Profile (replying to reviews, changing hours, publishing posts), is described five ways across five pages. The reading that fits them: limited on Starter monthly, full on Basic and up, unlimited on annual and Enterprise. If the API or the agent matters, buy Basic or any annual plan.
The integration list is long for a tool this size: a REST API, an official MCP server with 37 tools, a native Claude connector that spends your credits, Zapier, n8n and Slack alerts. Falcon Guard monitors 20 Business Profile fields around the clock and keeps your profile performance history indefinitely, where Google keeps six months.
The recurring themes in G2 reviews line up with the pricing model. Reviewers say credits run out faster than expected and that the per-keyword cost is high once you scan often. Support replies can take a couple of days. Falcon Agent does not always carry out commands correctly - worth knowing before you let it touch a live Business Profile. An independent review on faithamaole.com reaches the same conclusion: "the credit system can get expensive if you scan too often".
Whitespark's Local Ranking Grids use the same credit idea and are cheaper at the bottom: $10 a month buys 2,000 credits - at one credit per point, just enough for the 10-keyword weekly 7x7 setup above that costs $24.99 on Local Falcon. At the top they are level - Whitespark's $100 tier is $0.0031 a credit, Local Falcon Pro $0.0032. Whitespark grids stop at 225 points (15x15), though, where Local Falcon goes to 441.
BrightLocal starts at $31 a month on the Track plan and bundles citations, review tools and audits, but its geo-grid covers only five keywords. Semrush Local charges $30 a month per location, which punishes the multi-location agencies that Local Falcon's unlimited locations suit best.
Buy Local Falcon if you run an agency or a multi-location brand and want a bigger grid than Whitespark offers (21x21, 441 points, against 225) and map plus AI-search tracking across seven platforms from one credit pool. Budget for Premium if clients expect branded PDFs, and for an annual plan if you want the API and Falcon Agent without ambiguity.
Skip it if you own one location and check rankings now and then. Whitespark's $10 grids, or the grid bundled into BrightLocal, cost less for the same answer. And whoever buys it should set grid sizes before scan schedules: a 21x21 scan you did not need costs 441 credits, and on pay-as-you-go that is $22.05 for one keyword, once.
