Instantly review, checked October 2026: real cost of the Outbound, credits and inbox stack, the 1,000-contact Growth cap, the warmup fair-use limit, no-refund terms, and when Saleshandy or lemlist fit better.
Instantly's pricing page leads with "Unlimited Email Accounts, Unlimited Email Warmup" on every plan, starting at $47 a month. Both claims are true in the narrow sense. What the page does not spell out is that the $47 buys one of four products, each billed on its own. Instantly's billing help article (updated October 27, 2026) says it plainly: Outbound, Data Credits, CRM and Inbox Placement are "separate subscription types, each billed individually", and every workspace needs its own.
So the sending plan does the sending. Finding leads is a second subscription. A pipeline view is a third, and testing where your mail lands is a fourth. Inboxes and domains you buy from Instantly are a fifth line on the invoice, renewed on the 15th of each month.
The other limit that matters more than the price: the Growth plan's 1,000 contacts are a stored total across all campaigns, not a monthly allowance. The help centre's words are "a fixed limit across all campaigns, not per month." Once 1,000 leads are loaded, you delete old ones to add new ones.
Checked on October 30, 2026, at monthly billing. The lower figures on the pricing page ($37.60, $77.60, $286.30) are the annual rate, 20% off, which Instantly's own July 2026 blog confirms.
| Outbound plan | Monthly | Stored contacts | Emails / month | What it lacks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | $47 | 1,000 | 5,000 | Single user, no webhooks, no white-label portal |
| Hyper Growth | $97 | 25,000 | 125,000 | - |
| Light Speed | $358 | 100,000 | 500,000 | - |
| Enterprise / VIP | Custom | Custom | Custom | - |
Team members, webhooks and the white-label agency portal all start at Hyper Growth. API access is on every Outbound plan, though API v1 was switched off on January 19, 2026, so older integrations need rewriting against v2.
Now the realistic small-team setup. Instantly recommends about 30 campaign emails per inbox per day. To actually send Growth's 5,000 emails a month on weekdays you need around eight inboxes. Bought from Instantly, Done-For-You Google inboxes are $5 a month each and domains $15 a year. Add the Growth credits plan so you have someone to email, and the bill lands near $135-$140 a month: $47 + $47 + $40 in inboxes + three or four domains. Pre-warmed Google inboxes at $10 each push it past $170.
The "Starter" bundle (Outbound plus credits) looks like the shortcut, and Instantly describes bundles as carrying a 10% discount. At monthly billing, though, Starter is $94, which is exactly $47 + $47. Scale ($194) and Agency ($555) are also the plain sums of their parts. The discount only shows up on annual billing ($85 for Starter), and by the figures we read, buying Growth and Growth credits separately on annual terms comes to roughly $80. The Scale bundle also lists 100,000 emails a month, against 125,000 for the standalone Hyper Growth plan it contains.
Lead Finder (formerly SuperSearch) is the reason many people sign up: a database of "450M+ verified B2B Leads" searched by title, location, industry, revenue, technology and funding signals. It runs on Data Credits, from $9 for 150 a month to $1,700 for 200,000.
The burn rates are what turn that into real numbers. A found work email costs 1.5 credits on average, verification 0.25, and each reply the AI Reply Agent drafts costs 5. So the $47 plan's 1,500 credits buys about 1,000 work emails a month, or 300 AI-written replies, not both. Writing sequences and building campaigns through Copilot no longer costs credits; anything that touches lead data still does.
Two smaller catches. The lead-quality filters are only on the Hyper credits tier ($197) or the Agency bundle. And monthly credits expire two months after purchase, so a quiet month is money lost rather than banked. Website Visitors identification also runs on credits, at 3 per resolved person, but it only works on US traffic and requires you to publish a CPRA-compliant privacy policy and a cookie banner first.
Warmup is the feature Instantly built its name on. Turn it on and your inbox joins a pool of other Instantly customers' inboxes that open your mail and reply to a share of it, so providers see engagement before your first real campaign. The pool is the product: the bigger and cleaner it is, the better your sender reputation looks.
Here is where "unlimited" gets its asterisk. The Standard warmup pool has a fair-use cap on SMTP (non-Google, non-Microsoft) accounts: 100 on Growth, 500 on Hyper Growth, 1,000 on Light Speed. Cross it and the entire workspace drops to the Basic pool, Google and Outlook inboxes included. A premium pool with up to 1,000 third-party Microsoft accounts starts at $500 a month per workspace; a private pool at $1,000.
Inbox Placement testing, which checks where a seed send lands and monitors your domains against 94 blacklists, is yet another subscription: $47 for one-off tests, $97 to automate them and auto-pause campaigns when placement drops. That gap matters because a warmup score is not inbox placement. A 2026 review on marketbetter.ai, citing r/coldemail threads, describes warmup scores above 90 while live campaigns landed 30-40% in spam. Treat the warmup dashboard as a health signal, not proof.
One setting to change on day one: the List-Unsubscribe header is a per-campaign checkbox, off unless you tick it. Gmail and Yahoo expect it from bulk senders, and the terms make CAN-SPAM and GDPR compliance entirely your problem.
Instantly's terms (last updated October 23, 2026) state in capitals that all fees are "NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-CANCELLABLE". That covers every plan, credits, Done-For-You inboxes, warmup and Lead Finder, with no pro-rata refund for a started month or year. Plans auto-renew at whatever the price is then.
Cancelling is a set of separate jobs. Each subscription is cancelled on its own, and Outbound or credits add-ons need a message to chat support before the renewal date. Inboxes bought from Instantly are cancelled immediately, and their Unibox conversations are deleted after a 24-hour grace period, so export replies you want to keep first. There is no pause option. Downgrading an Outbound plan takes effect immediately, with the unused time returned as credit on future invoices, not as cash.
User reviews track this closely. Trustpilot lists 1,179 reviews, 66% five-star and 26% one-star, and currently shows no TrustScore at all after flagging a guidelines breach and removing fake reviews. The one-star reviews from September and October 2026 repeat the same handful of stories: being charged after cancelling, refunds offered as platform credit that expired before it could be used, losing features the moment a downgrade went through mid-cycle, and one account that stopped sending for close to a week with no error shown.
The trial is the safe way in: 14 days, no card, two inboxes, 250 leads, 1,000 emails, 1,000 welcome credits and two placement tests. An unconverted trial account is deleted when it expires, so export anything you built.
At the entry level Instantly is not the cheap option it looks like. Saleshandy Starter is $41 a month and allows 2,000 active prospects and 6,000 emails, double Instantly Growth's contact ceiling for $6 less. Smartlead lists its Base plan at $39 a month (its own comparison table says $59) for 2,000 contacts and 6,000 sends. Woodpecker is usually quoted lower still, though it no longer prints prices on its own page.
If the plan is email plus LinkedIn steps, lemlist is built for that and Instantly is not; lemlist's Email plan is $69 monthly or $55 on yearly billing. And if you only need addresses, not sending, Hunter.io avoids paying for an Outbound plan just to reach a lead database. Credits alone on Instantly cap you at 250 leads uploaded to campaigns.
Buy Instantly if you run an agency or send at volume and will sit on Hyper Growth ($97) or above. That is the tier where the product makes sense: 25,000 stored contacts, team seats, webhooks, a white-label client portal with no cap on clients, and a warmup pool large enough to be worth joining. Pair it with the Inbox Placement plan rather than trusting warmup scores.
Skip it if you are a solo founder emailing a few hundred prospects. Growth's 1,000-contact ceiling, single seat and per-inbox fees make a $47 headline into a $135 monthly bill, under a contract that refunds nothing. Saleshandy or Smartlead give you twice the contacts for less, and lemlist is the better buy if LinkedIn is part of the sequence. Whatever you choose, run the 14-day trial first. With Instantly, it is the only part you can walk away from for free.
