SEO PowerSuite review: Rank Tracker, WebSite Auditor, SEO SpyGlass and LinkAssistant, the $349-$899 yearly plans, free tier limits and the no-refund renewal catch.
Nearly every SEO platform worth comparing now lives in a browser tab. SEO PowerSuite still installs on your computer. Its four apps - Rank Tracker, WebSite Auditor, SEO SpyGlass and LinkAssistant - are Java programs for Windows, macOS and 64-bit Linux, made by Link-Assistant.Com, the company that shipped LinkAssistant as its first product in 2004.
That history is why many people still think of it as the SEO tool you pay for once. It is not. The perpetual licence with paid "Search Algo Updates" covers only keys ordered before 25 January 2020. Every licence sold since is a subscription, and an old key without current updates can no longer parse search results. Pages selling a "lifetime deal" are describing a product that no longer exists.
So the real question is narrower. At a $29.10-a-month equivalent, is a desktop suite that needs your own machine switched on a genuine alternative to Semrush or Ahrefs? And who gets caught out by the way it bills?
Prices below were checked on the pricing page on October 10, 2026. There is no monthly plan. Every tier is sold in 1-, 2- or 3-year terms, and the "/mo" figures are simply what a term works out to. The crossed-out $60, $140 and $200 a month printed next to them are reference prices, not something you can buy.
| Plan | 1 year | 2 years | 3 years | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | - | - | 1 project with no saving, 500 URLs audited, 1,100 backlinks, 1 competitor |
| Professional | $349 ($29.10/mo) | $558 ($23.25/mo) | $717 ($19.95/mo) | Saved projects, scheduled tasks, Safe Query Mode, 5 competitors per project |
| Enterprise | $599 ($49.95/mo) | $1,118 | $1,377 | 40 competitors, white-label reports, scheduled report delivery, CSV/SQL/HTML export |
| Max + | $899 ($74.95/mo) | $1,498 | $1,947 | First year of RankDots Starter free, a dedicated success manager, one Ask-an-SEO question a month |
The line that matters most is export. Professional cannot export data to CSV, SQL or HTML, and cannot save or email PDF or HTML reports. Leave after three years and your rank history stays inside an app you no longer pay for - and the licence agreement lets the vendor delete project data when you do not renew. Export starts at Enterprise, $599 a year. For anyone reporting to clients, that is the real entry price.
The apps are also sold one at a time, per year: Rank Tracker at $179 (Professional, "for in-house use") or $419 (Enterprise, "for client work"), WebSite Auditor at $149 or $359, and SEO SpyGlass and LinkAssistant at $129 or $259 each. Two single Professional tools already cost about as much as the $349 bundle, so singles only make sense if you need exactly one app.
Keyword research plus rank tracking across what the vendor describes as several hundred search engines - its own pages variously say 400+, 550+ and "around 600". The newest addition is Google AI Overviews tracking, written up by the vendor on August 25, 2026 and listed on every tier, Free included. You switch it on by right-clicking a table header and picking "Google AIO".
That adds two columns. AIO Mentions means your site is named and linked inside the AI answer text; AIO Rank means it is cited among the sources underneath. Both feed SERP history, the Keyword Gap report and a SERP Details panel that lists every domain inside the AI box. The limit is that it watches Google only. If you need to know whether ChatGPT or Perplexity cite you, AccuRanker and Nightwatch track those and Rank Tracker does not.
A site crawler and on-page editor. It can crawl as a chosen user agent, execute JavaScript, and throttle its requests so it does not hammer a fragile server. The Content Editor, added in 2019, lets you rewrite a page in a WYSIWYG view with TF-IDF and recommended-topic suggestions alongside. There is also a page speed audit, a robots.txt generator and a visual map of site structure. The free version audits 500 URLs and asks for no card.
The backlink checker, running on Link-Assistant's own index. The vendor claims 6.5 trillion links across 400 million domains, collected by its BLEXBot crawler. Those are the vendor's numbers, undated, and we found no independent comparison of them against Ahrefs or Semrush. It scores each link with a "Penalty Risk" metric and builds a disavow file from the ones you flag. Free users see up to 1,100 backlinks per site and can compare two sites.
Prospecting and outreach for link building: find sites, store contacts, send and track emails. The free version handles 1,000 prospects per project but, like every free app here, saves nothing.
Scheduled rank checks run on your computer, not on the vendor's. The help centre is plain about it: you "should keep your computer switched on and the software should be running in background" for scheduled tasks to execute. Close the laptop on Friday and Monday's ranking report never happens. Users who rely on schedules end up dedicating an always-on desktop or a cloud VM to it.
Seats work the same way. A licence can be installed on several machines but used on only one at a time, and switching means waiting about 13 minutes for the previous session to expire. Three people who want to check rankings at the same moment need three licences. "SEO PowerSuite Cloud" does not change this - it stores projects online and, on Enterprise only, publishes shareable reports. It is not a browser version of the apps.
The free tier has its own catch. Without Safe Query Mode, which paid plans route through the vendor's servers, every query leaves from your IP address and you solve Google's CAPTCHAs by hand. Skip them and, in the help centre's words, your IP "may get temporarily blocked by the SE for an hour or two". Free also cannot save a project, so whatever rank history you build disappears when you close the app.
Hardware is the last filter. You need 4 GB of RAM, macOS 11 or later (Intel and Apple Silicon both work) or Windows 10/11, and on Linux only x64 - no ARM, so no Raspberry Pi and no Graviton or Ampere cloud instance. Phones and tablets are not supported at all.
This is where most of the anger about SEO PowerSuite comes from. Each licence runs for a year and renews automatically unless you cancel before the new term starts. The return policy says the company "will not provide you any refunds at any time", that cancelling does not entitle you to any refund, and that "You may not receive notice of your renewal after subscribing". The help centre adds that once a subscription has renewed, no refund is given.
The reviews show the result. On Trustpilot, Link-Assistant.Com held a TrustScore of 3.0 from 416 reviews when checked on October 10, 2026, and the recurring complaint is a renewal charge the customer did not expect, followed by a refused refund. One October 2026 reviewer describes a renewal charge of 117.70 euros turned down under exactly that policy. Another, from August 2026, reports Rank Tracker failing to find their site for keywords they were monitoring.
The fix is cheap if you do it on day one. Payment runs through 2Checkout (Verifone), and the "My Products" tab in that account has the link to stop automatic renewal. You keep access until the paid term ends. The licence is issued by Techfusion LTD in Cyprus under the law of England and Wales, which is worth knowing before you plan to dispute a charge.
The comparison is about model more than features. Semrush and Ahrefs run in the browser on their own servers: rank checks happen whether your laptop is open or not, several teammates can log in at once on a multi-seat plan, and their link indexes have been compared by outsiders for years. SEO SpyGlass's index has not been tested that way, so its 6.5 trillion figure is a claim to take on trust.
What SEO PowerSuite offers in return is one fixed yearly bill for rank tracking, auditing, backlinks and outreach together, with the crawl running on your own machine. SE Ranking sits between the two - browser-based, with monthly billing, so a bad fit costs one month rather than a non-refundable year.
SEO PowerSuite suits a solo SEO, a freelancer or an in-house marketer with one machine that stays on, who wants four tools for a fixed yearly price and does not need anyone else logged in at the same time. Agencies should budget for Enterprise at $599 a year: without it there is no export and no white-label reporting, which is most of what client work needs. The new AI Overviews columns are useful, and on the free tier you can see them before paying anything.
Skip it if your team needs simultaneous access - Semrush or SE Ranking handle that without juggling licences. Skip it if you need ChatGPT and Perplexity visibility, which AccuRanker and Nightwatch track. And skip it if you want to pay month to month. If you do buy, test the free version first, then turn off auto-renew in 2Checkout the same day. Nothing in the software is as costly as a renewal you forgot about.
